I seek Allah’s protection/refuge/shelter from Shaitaan, the Accursed one.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Meaning :
Al-Hijr means " The Stoneland" or "The Rocky Tract".
The Arabic term "Hijr" is the name of a town where the people of Hazrat Salih used to live. or "Thamud" used to live in the southwestern part of Arabia.
The name of this Surah "Al-Hijr) is taken from the Verse : 80 of it which deals with the people of Salih, saying : " And verily, the dwellers of Al- Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers."

- A quuality of Makkan Surahs is that the Ayat or Verses are short, rhythemic and writing of the Surah is most efficient and quicker.
- Like the other Surahs of this period, it also praises Allah.
- The main theme of this Surah is divine guidance and people's response.
- Allah knows everything as He is the Creator of the whole universe.
- Allah warns those who deny the messages of prophets.
- The story of man's humble creation, the honor Allah has given to him and asked angels to bow down to him but Satan refused to do so.
- Though Allah is very forgiving but His punishment is also severe.
